Thai massage
is relatively new to modern spas, but it was actually developed by Buddhist monks in Thailand as a healing modality 2,500
years ago. In Thailand, it is one of the branches of Traditional Thai Medicine now recognised and regulated by the government,
and is widely considered to be a medical discipline used for the treatment of a wide variety of ailments.
Thai massage uses passive stretching and gentle pressure
along the body’s energy lines (Sen Lines) to increase flexibility, relieve muscle and joint tension and balance the
body’s energy systems. This form of massage is both deeply relaxing and energizing.
Thai Fusion & Herbal Massage brings together the best of both
Western massage techniques and Thai massage techniques. Although not traditionally performed on a couch or plinth, certain
Thai massage techniques lend themselves very well to working in this way, so much so that Thai massage using oils and a couch
is now commonplace in Thailand.
Combine these powerful traditional techniques with pre-blended aromatherapy oils
and a hot herbal compress and you have a superb fusion where East meets West.
Thai Fusion Massage Thai fusion massage
is deeply relaxing and has a calming effect on the body and mind. Aromatic scents of the east are fused with oils that are
applied to the body using various massage techniques to help alleviate muscular pain or tension. The treatment is combined
with traditional Thai massage consisting of stretching and joint mobilisation to help release any tension or toxins and relax
the muscles.
Thai
Herbal Massage Thai herbalism is a vibrant ancient tradition that was preserved
for over a thousand years in the monasteries and temples of Bangkok and which continues to be practised in villages throughout
Thailand to this present day.
The use of herbs also occurs in traditional Thai massage. Dried or fresh herbs are
ground up and placed in muslin cloth to make a compress known as a prakhop. These compresses are steamed to release the potent
qualities of the herbs and then applied to the body.
The hot compress increases energy flow, improves circulation,
relaxes muscles and stimulates nerves. The individual herbs also have various therapeutic effects on the body.
